Spread the love

I don’t know about you but all my life I have been a sucker for romance. The notebook, Titanic, Best of me, The Vow, The great gatsby are some on my all time favorite romantic movies, love stories that would make you cry and sob all day long. Anything about love or relationship had me stuck to the screen. Growing up I had a love/hate relationship about movies that was basically about the rich guy, falling in love with the poor poor girl and they had fight the wicked mother in-law before they lived happliy ever after. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty great watching movies like that but they were completely unrelatable. I mean, where I am supposed to find a rich man to fall in love with me in the middle of the airport?. I had unrealistic fantasies about what love was meant to be and by the time I started dating, I was a little bit disappointed.Luckyily for us, netflix has some really great shows that you can actually relate too, you understand what if feels like to be in the actor’s shoes because somewhere along the line, you have been in the same situation or even felt the same way. You can always count me in for amazing yet realistic shows to enjoy on netflix.

LOVE: by Judd Apatow explores the world of a present-day relationship, two completely different people from different walks of life, fall in love and they try to make it. The girl is really confused about what she wants but yet very blunt and the guy is such a nerd (in a cute way) trying to figure out this crazy lady he is really into. The ups and the downs, we see how strong their love grows along the way. Its funny, emotional, sometimes really annoying but incredibly relatable.

SHE’S GOTTA HAVE IT: by Spike Lee is incredible and strictly not suitable to anyone under 18 years of age. I am not a super fan of all the sex scenes but it takes us on a journey of a strong queer black woman (Nola Darling) juggling her lovers , emotions and work. She doesn’t subject her love to any man or woman. She is independently fierce and lives her life by her own rules.

NEW GIRL: by Zooey Deschanel is extremly funny, although it is rear to find a woman living with 3 male roommates, we see the life of a woman who falls in and out of love over and over again, and we get to watch her make mistakes and also rise from them. I can relate because some times we date people and the ones you really think are going to finally be “the one’ end up being a miss,we also get see how hard dating can actually be and how your “support” system can help you through it, one date at a time.

CHEWING GUM: by Michaela Cole is about a young virgin who is trying to figure out how to have a sex life and still have her religion and keep her faith. She stumbles through awkward sexual interactions. It tells the stories of flawed people in questionable situations. I get this because I happen to be a christain and when it comes to sex, you feel like you are going to upset God and at the same times all your friends are doing it and you just want to know what this “sex” of a thing feels like but you are stuck, be a good christian and keep yourself or try it out and hope God forgives you. This is definitely a must watch.EASY: by Joe Swanberg comes in a series of short stories, so you don’t have to keep up with every single episode because every episode can stand alone. The show is filled with so many alist actors, focusing on a central hookup, relationship or otherwise romantic encounter. It covers everything from marriage to dating life and also to Lgbtq community so really nobody feels left out and its completely relateble.
